1999-2000 (cont'd) -- Selected President of the Jury for the 2000 Berlinale Festival, becoming the first Chinese person to serve as head of a Western film festival jury. Named Artist For Peace by UNESCO (May 2000). Appointed FAO Ambassador on World Food Day (October 2000). Enrolled at Beijing University to earn Master's Degree.
2001: Starred in "Zhou Yu's Train", directed by Sun Zhou. Chosen an Image Ambassador for the 2008 Olympic Games. Traveled to Moscow with the Olympic Bid Committee.
2002: Selected President of the Jury for the Venice Film Festival.
2003-2004: Served as President of the Jury for the Tokyo Film Festival (November 2003). Starred in Wong Kar-Wai's "The Hand" segment of "Eros", and took on supporting roles in Wong's "2046" and Rob Marshall's "Memoirs of a Geisha". Awarded the Cannes Film Festival "Trophy of the Festival" for her body of work, the youngest person to receive the honor.
2005: Named one of the Top 10 most influential people in the history of Chinese film. Co-starred in Michael Mann's "Miami Vice" with Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx (released July 2006). Named Best Supporting Actress by the National Board of Review for her work in "Memoirs of a Geisha".
2006: Completed work on "Hannibal Rising", co-starring with Gaspard Ulliel. Reunited with director Zhang Yimou on "Curse of the Golden Flower", co-starring with Chow Yun-Fat. Included on Time magazine's list of "60 Years of Asian Heroes".
2007: Named Best Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards (April 15), Golden Bauhinia Awards (Sept 1), and by the Hong Kong Film Critics Association (January 22) for her work in "Curse of the Golden Flower".
