Clip 1:

"Good afternoon! All the directors and actors and actresses have made such exciting speeches. I don't excel at making long speeches. I just hope that you could all watch the movie and reflect on what we have said. I'll talk briefly about my experience with Memoirs of a Geisha. It's really quite an extraordinary experience. The first time I was approached by director Rob Marshall, I could not believe it and would not dare to accept the role. To me it seemed impossible. The language presented a great barrier. Then Rob asked me to meet in Los Angeles to discuss it face-to-face. I didn't have the courage to do that, either, so I dragged it out for a long time - about half a month. After a lot of thought, I finally decided to go. After all, I hadn't been to Los Angeles in a while, and I can also get to meet one of my favorite directors. As to whether or not I could take on the role, I really was unsure because I did not have much confidence. When we met, Rob gave me a great deal of confidence. He said 'We'll be really happy if you do decide to take on the role'. To me, the completion of filming Memoirs of a Geisha has been a challenge. I owe Rob for giving me the confidence to participate in such a great film."

Clip 2:

"Before the filming of Memoirs of a Geisha, I never realized that I possessed such great power to be expressed in films. During the filming process, I discovered this, and it was the director and co-starring actors and actresses who gave me this power. I am really thankful to Rob and the other actors and actresses. Much of the details of the filming process are unforgettable. Every little detail, from the first gathering in the form of a little party, to the first day of filming, to the completion of the film. I couldn't believe that the filming of my character will finish one day. Every detail is so unforgettable, I can still remember it clearly now. Perhaps when you watch the film you will remember what we have said today. Thank you Rob, thank you to all the producers and fellow actors/actresses. Thank you, thank you all!"

Clip 3:

"I've never worked with a director with such a mild temperament as Rob Marshall. It really was quite a different experience. Every time we saw Rob, he was always smiling at us. If he had a lot of thoughts on some character, or if we had thoughts on our roles, we would communicate it through the form of a discussion. We quite readily accepted his ideas. And I'm most willing to communicate with him as he's got the gentlest attitude. But once you see his films, you'll realize what a capable and powerful director he is. I haven't learned and incorporated his mildness into my character, though, unlike Michelle. Rob's gentleness has found itself in Michelle's character [Mameha]. My character [Hatsumomo] is quite harsh at times. If I had imitated Rob's personality, I wouldn't be able to play my character well. So on that note, I haven't learnt his mildness."
